soul sparks :: misfits like us

What ignites the phoenix fire within you?

Here are a few things sparking me lately . . .

// On my bookshelf:

  • Broken for You, by Stephanie Kallos. I sobbed through the final pages of this novel, after having scribbled and underlined and nodded and oh yesed through all that came before. This is one of the most transformative, heartbreaking, & hearthealing books I've ever read. It should be required reading for all phoenix souls who feel broken, alone, unseen . . . because, dear kindred, you are one of us. You are never alone. Let us honor our undoing & help glue one another back to whole.

// on Spotify/YouTube:

  • Kelly Clarkson's "People Like Us." Ooh, how I BURN for misfit anthems! Just as the book above deals with finding your tribe even/especially in your brokenness (people who love you right in the middle of your holy mess), this song is a fist-pumping, dance-inducing anthem for "people like us."
People like us, we’ve got to stick together
Keep your head up, nothing lasts forever
. . . We are all misfits living in a world on fire
singing for the people like us, the people like us
— Kelly Clarkson, "People Like Us"

I love your misfit heart.
Your rebel hope. Your phoenix soul.

I see you. I celebrate you.

What's sparking you? Share with us!

Love,
Amanda
