"my path is my own" // Truth Tribe interview: Nolwenn Petitbois

Phoenix, what would life look like if you courageously expressed your unique soul?

Nolwenn Petitbois dares to be unabashedly herself, even/especially when that looks different from traditional labels. She says,

I am a story unfolder. I am a Gratitude Warrior. I am White and I am Black. I am a spiritual Bean. I am Magick. I am a f’ing Unicorn. I am. Me.”
— Nolwenn Petitbois

I admire Nolwenn's openhearted expression of herself and her art, always striving to stay true to her voice and calling in the world. She is brave, beautiful, honest, thoughtful, deeply divine, and unapologetically unique.

What a joy to interview Nolwenn in The Phoenix Soul: UNIQUE, welcoming her to our beloved Truth Tribe.

Nolwenn was born and raised in France, living there for more than 23 years before becoming an expatriate in Canada. I asked Nolwenn how calling two countries home has shaped her.

Here's part of her response:

I believe that it allows me to see and feel things differently. I can put myself in the place of somebody more easily because of it. [...] It taught me to keep my mind open at all costs.

Nolwenn discovered creative journaling in 2008, after having kept written journals as a child. She says, "Creative journaling allowed me to put the feelings outside of me even when the words did not come as I wanted." Now Nolwenn dedicates herself to a near-daily practice, often sharing her progress via Instagram, her blog, and many inspiring videos

I asked Nolwenn if she ever struggles with self-doubt or comparison. She answered,

All.the.time. Yes. When doubt about my art and about my voice creeps inside my heart, I remind my soul that my path is my own. My struggles make me stronger and better because they force me to go deeper and deeper each time.

Phoenix, remember that your path is your own.

How would fully embracing this idea change your daily life? How would it feel to honor and celebrate your own twisting, turning journey--even/especially when it doesn't look like anyone else's, or what you once imagined it "should" look like?

Your unique soul deserves to be seen, heard, expressed. Respected.

You amaze me, phoenix soul, in all your messy grace. As you are.

with love & awe,
Amanda
